Happiness is a signal, not a destination. It tells me something is working — and it is worth noticing what.
What this feeling feels like
Lightness. A kind of ease that does not need explaining. Things feel like they fit. There may be warmth, a sense of opening. It can be quiet or full, depending on what caused it.
What this feeling may be telling me
About my values: Something I actually care about is being honored here. This is worth paying attention to — it shows me what matters.
About my needs: A need is being met. Not just tolerated or worked around — actually met.
About my truth and alignment: Where happiness is consistent, alignment usually is too. This ease might be pointing at something that genuinely fits who I am.
What this feeling is often confused with
Happiness is often confused with excitement or relief. Excitement is about something coming. Relief is the removal of something unpleasant. Happiness is neither — it is a signal that something present is good.
What this feeling asks of me
I notice it. The difficult signals are not the only ones worth reading. What specifically is working here? Can I move more toward this?
Reflection question
What is this happiness pointing at — and am I getting enough of it?
Small practice
The next time I notice a moment of genuine ease, I pause for a few seconds. I ask: what just happened — and what does this tell me about what I need more of?
Closing
Happiness tends not to demand anything. It is easy to take for granted. But it is pointing at something just as clearly as the harder feelings are.
